I'm really interested in making dramas too.. especially ones in the Korean market. I really have no experience so far though.. my mom is set on my taking pre-pharm for now.
Any tips for getting started?
I would love to go to Korea and be a PA for awhile on some dramas.. fat chance though. err pika pika is right, either you have connections in the industry or work your way slowly with the rest of us dreamers... anyways if you're really interested in it, you can try just being a PA in w/e productions they have where you live... you don't necessarily need a film degree but it would speed up the process a lot (mostly because you get more access to productions and you can network if as you're getting your degree...)

and i just saw the posters for the pirate sequel...ok im going to say it: I TOTALLY PREDICTED ASIANS WOULD BE IN THE NEXT PIRATES MOVIE
YAYUR
hahahaha does this happen to anyone else? sometimes my predictions about the entertainment industries are dead accurate...like i totally predicted someone would make a "making of the band" for a girl band...and apparently jyp is planning doing that...or maybe they cancelled the idea...but nevertheless..
it also happens sometimes in my story..for hsr i wrote a scene and a couple of weeks later i saw the same thing in dbsk vacation...i was not too happy about that tho ><
i also predicted crossdressing would be the next thing and now theres a new taiwanese drama called "hana kimi"
yay chow yun fat! and yeah it happens sometimes... like when america's next top model came out i thought, "man they're gonna have a male version and a designer version" and they did... or remakes and adaptations of films and things like that... i think the entertainment industry has become more and more predictable... i haven't read your fic though, which part of vacation?

I'm kind of on the fence about my specific major though. I think people find it a given you want to be a director when they hear film but that just isn't me. I'm more of a behind the scenes person. Editing is my first choice, but when I help severely understaffed student projects I can be prop master, gaffer, camera, and producer all in one day. My only crutch about it editing is that I kind of have to wait for post-production when I also love to be on a set, watching the filming in production but it's hard to find a duality in that.
here's to understaffed student projects! yeah i've had my share of on-set multitasking... i know people always assume you wanna direct, and that's true most of the time but i mean i'm happy just being art director... actually i'm happy just being on-set, i think it's the best feeling in the world... and that is exactly why i don't wanna do editing no matter how lucrative it is (and i think it's the most lucrative areas in film production)...

I had a question if any of you know or are interested in animated films? I've been contemplating whether to become an animation editor because they have a much bigger role throughout the entire film from the very beginning of storyboards to the very end, but not sure as of yet. My goals would be animation editing anime in Japan and my ultimate ultimate dream would be animation editing at PIXAR.
uhm, i'm not really interested in animation since i've mentioned i love being on set... but it's true that editors play a bigger role in animation, and part of that is because you don't really have to depend on the director's coverage... the animation major here in my college is frankly is way better than the film major, the pixar (and ilm) ppl like them a lot... like in the student film festival when they show the animated shorts during the credits they always credit pixar for "special help" and things like that... ever considered transferring?

Here's to dreaming! It's what we filmmakers strive on, IMO.
btw losborrachos is your signature a twist on a scene in Fight Club? I love that movie!
yes, come to this thread so it's not so empty... and btw i've never seen fight club believe it or not... the signature is simply my frustration at what sometimes happens in forums...
